If you haven’t heard already, Salesforce is ending support for Workflow Rules and Process Builder as of December 31, 2025. While these tools will probably continue to function beyond that deadline, they won’t get any further assistance from customer support or fix bugs.
Salesforce advises transitioning your automations to Flow Builder—a contemporary, flexible, low-code platform—before the close of 2025.
Viewing the shift away from Workflow Rules and Process Builders as merely a tech upgrade misses the bigger picture. Over time, many Salesforce setups accumulate outdated elements that can hinder operational efficiency. This transition presents a prime chance to review the purpose of these automations, streamline them, or switch to built-in features where feasible.
Key factors to keep in mind during the shift:
Approach Workflow Rules and Process Builders comprehensively, considering the overall business objectives they’re addressing—it’s not simply a direct swap to Flows.
We suggest organizing them by Object, followed by a thorough review and classification of the actions and triggers in each Process Builder node.
Prior to building Flows, check whether existing automations can be substituted with standard Salesforce capabilities.
Convert any timed actions from Process Builders into scheduled paths within Flows. Use this moment to reassess the timing and criteria for record processing to boost efficiency.
Even though Flows are user-friendly and declarative, it’s essential to implement a structured Flow methodology, akin to coding standards, and adhere to recommended practices to steer clear of resource constraints. Without proper protocols, Flows can spiral into complexity, particularly in bigger teams.
This process is an excellent way to clear out accumulated inefficiencies.
Shifting away from Workflow Rules and Process Builders by year’s end may seem daunting, but we’re here to assist! Reach out if you want more details!
